Thing #5
Teachers are really beginning to see Web 2.0 as a valuable tool. Lucie deLaBruere had some really good ideas involving teachers using these tools to communicate. Teachers are really isolated from one another and not able to exchange ideas. Now they are reaching out to others to generate new ideas. In this article, a teacher used Twitter to send a tweet asking for ideas to use the first day of school. She also asked for ideas in her blog. Afterwards, another teacher compiled a list by subjects in Wiki. What great ways Web 2.0 tools were used to help teachers communicate from all over the world and learn from one another. Three great tools were used for one purpose. I can now see how valuable these web tools are and would use them in similar ways to reach out to others and break away from the isolated classroom.

That is an awesome way for these tools to be used. I know at my school, especially being in the Life Skills area, we don't get to know the other teachers in the building, and they don't know us either. We see each other while walking our students to and from specials or lunch, but as far as knowing their name, I personally have no clue on most of them. I know we have several new teachers in our building who are always needing help, so this would be a great tool for them.
